Here we are using our new 8,000 pound corner jacks on the trailer to lift it to the necessary height to safely transfer a 1,400 pound gun safe from a tractor trailer to our trailer for a moving company. In the third picture you can see that we attached a come-a-long from our trailer to theirs.. This turned out to be unneccesary however we were concerned that perhaps while rolling the safe across the ramps that our trailer might sway causing the ramps and safe to fall. So we decided like we always do that we would rather do it and not need it, than not do it and have an accident. Once the safe was safely strapped down on our trailer, we lowered the trailer to the ground and backed it into the driveway where we placed our ramps on the concrete and used our winch to slowly roll the safe down the ramps as usual. We then placed the safe into an attached garage and positioned it where the customer wanted it. The moving company had moved the family’s belongings from California to Texas and they were unable to safely unload this safe. They called us a week in advance because they knew they were going to need help on this end upon arrival, and we said we definitely could do it. Originally we had planned on using our stacker pallet jack to just lower the safe onto our trailer because we could achieve the required height with it as well, but after some thought we decided to add the rear corner jacks to our trailer instead. Now all three jacks on our trailer are rated at 8,000 pound holding capacity, and 7,000 pound lifting capacity. So combined the three jacks will support 21,000-24,000 pounds which is more than adequate for our needs. This will now allow us to move safes onto or off of any size truck or loading dock.
We were extremely happy that our plan worked perfectly and we were able to easily roll the safe out of the tall tractor trailer and across our ramps and onto our trailer. We decided to do it this way because we get many calls to remove safes from moving trucks and off of docks where they have no ramp for us to back our trailer up. This will allow us to help many more people in the future who find them selves in this predicament.
